Happy holidays to our whānau and friends. Term 4 resumes on Monday 9 October 2023.

Numeracy

We facilitate effective mathematic strategies and approaches to promote and enhance students’ development and understanding of mathematical skills and concepts.

These practices are designed to enhance students’ numeracy skills, problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and mathematical reasoning.

Some key components of our mathematics approaches include:

  • a balanced approach to numeracy instruction that combines conceptual understanding, and problem-solving skills.
  • engaging our students in real-world problem-solving tasks to help them see the relevance of mathematics in everyday life. Our students are encouraged to apply their knowledge and skills to solve authentic problems, fostering critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • cater to individual students’ strengths, interests, and readiness levels.
  • engage with parents and caregivers in supporting mathematics development at home. The school may provide resources, strategies, and guidance to involve families in promoting reading and writing habits and creating a literacy-rich environment.
