Dear Parents and Guardians,
Assalamu Alaikum Everyone.
I hope this message finds you well today. I am delighted to be appointed the new Principal of Iqra School starting Term Three. I have already been so welcomed to the school by wonderful staff and students who have gone out of their way to make sure I am well supported here at Iqra School. I have taught over two decades in a number of roles in educational leadership, including ACG Sunderland School and St. Cuthbert’s College. I have a passion for primary education, a commitment to inclusivity and a dedication to fostering a collaborative learning environment. I have gained invaluable experience raising students’ progress and improving outcomes for students. My values align seamlessly with the mission of Iqra School and I am eager to begin work alongside specialised staff, hard working teachers and wonderful students. The Board of Trustees have enabled me to have a wonderful transition with Dr. Stephen Kendall-Jones, and I am grateful for the smooth handover that has transpired.
It is a privilege and humbling to become part of the Iqra School community amongst the special character that only Iqra School can bring. Thank you so much for all the support already shown me. I am excited to start a new chapter here at Iqra School. Your engagement and cooperation are invaluable to me as we continue to cultivate a nurturing, respectful and enriching environment for all our students. Please pop in and say hello when you are next at Iqra School!
Kind regards,
Leanne Chartrand
Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Please note that Senior Soccer students will have two soccer sessions each week for this week and next week as make-up sessions.
The sessions will be held on:
-Tuesday and Friday, 5 June 2026 (this week)
-Tuesday and Friday, 12 June 2026 (next week)
The sessions will be held in the lower court on Friday, and upper court on Tuesday.
These additional sessions are being provided because there will be no Senior Soccer sessions after 12 June, as the coach will be overseas. The Friday sessions have been scheduled to make up for the missed sessions during this period.
Please ensure your child comes prepared for soccer on both days with appropriate sports clothing, footwear, and a water bottle.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Kind regards,
Iqra School

Dear Parents and caregivers,
Areej Arif is a registered psychologist under the NZ Psychologists Board, trained through Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington. She currently runs Aleph Wellbeing and Development, a private therapy practice in Henderson.

Areej will be available on-site at Iqra on Mondays (starting Monday 08/06/2026) to meet with Year 1-8 students individually for support, guidance, and skill-building in private counselling sessions. She will also be visiting classrooms to offer talks on topics such as emotional wellbeing, friendship skills, resilience, and healthy coping strategies. Sessions are fully funded.
Areej will also be supported by Sapna, a student placement who she is supervising.
PROCESS:
Referrals to Areej can be made through parents by completing the permission form, through this link: https://forms.gle/C2vhDBfxvEaAbpdM9
Areej will assess the permission form and liaise with the parent regarding next steps, including accessing the funding for individual sessions through Gumboot Friday.
A flow chart of the process is below showing parent, student and teacher referrals going to parents for permission in all cases in the first instance.

Parents are encouraged to ask any clarifying questions to Areej via email: admin@alephwellbeing.co.nz
Alternatively, if you have any questions please contact me.
Kind regards,

Assalammualaikum Dear Parents,
Eid Mubarak!
We are excited to share that we will be celebrating Eid Al-Adha at school on Tuesday, 2nd June 2026!
To help make this day special for the children, we kindly ask for your support with the following:
Clothing: Please send your children dressed in their beautiful Eid or traditional cultural clothes.
Shared Lunch: Please send a healthy plate of food for the children to share.
Dietary & Allergies: To ensure all our students can safely enjoy the food, please include a clearly written list of ingredients with your dish so we can manage any dietary requirements or allergies. If your child does have a food allergy they bring something to eat and not take part in the shared lunch to ensure they do not eat an ingredient they should not.
Thank you for your continuous support in making our school celebrations so vibrant and memorable.
Kind Regards,
Iqra School Team
