Principal's Welcome

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Assalamu Alaikum Everyone.

I hope this message finds you well today. I am delighted to be appointed the new Principal of Iqra School starting Term Three. I have already been so welcomed to the school by wonderful staff and students who have gone out of their way to make sure I am well supported here at Iqra School. I have taught over two decades in a number of roles in educational leadership, including ACG Sunderland School and St. Cuthbert’s College. I have a passion for primary education, a commitment to inclusivity and a dedication to fostering a collaborative learning environment. I have gained invaluable experience raising students’ progress and improving outcomes for students. My values align seamlessly with the mission of Iqra School and I am eager to begin work alongside specialised staff, hard working teachers and wonderful students. The Board of Trustees have enabled me to have a wonderful transition with Dr. Stephen Kendall-Jones, and I am grateful for the smooth handover that has transpired.

It is a privilege and humbling to become part of the Iqra School community amongst the special character that only Iqra School can bring. Thank you so much for all the support already shown me. I am excited to start a new chapter here at Iqra School. Your engagement and cooperation are invaluable to me as we continue to cultivate a nurturing, respectful and enriching environment for all our students. Please pop in and say hello when you are next at Iqra School!

Kind regards,

Leanne Chartrand

Year 4 Room 4 Classroom Teacher
19 Mar 2026

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As we are now nearing the end of the first school term I would like to take this opportunity to let you know of some upcoming changes to the classroom teacher.

I am writing to inform you that Ms Sajdah Nazif, your child’s class teacher, will be away  on maternity leave from 1 May 2026 until the end of the year.  She will return in 2027 to Iqra School . We understand that the beginning of the term is an important time for settling in, and I want to assure you that we have made arrangements to ensure a smooth transition for the children.

During Ms. Sajdah Nazif’s absence, the class will be taught by Ms. Fathima Hafeez, a familiar and experienced member of our team. Ms Fathima Hafeez will follow the planned routines and curriculum to ensure that the children feel supported and welcomed as they transition back into school life.  She of course has taught the majority of the children as the Year 3 classroom teacher in 2025.  She will be with the children until the end of 2026.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

We look forward to an exciting and productive term ahead and welcoming Ms Sajdah Nazim back to the classroom on her return in 2027 and welcoming Ms Fathima Hafeez back to Iqra School as the Year 4 Classroom teacher.

Kind regards,

Orphans' Sponsorship Update
19 Mar 2026

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude for your generous donations in support of orphans. Your kindness and compassion truly reflect the strong values of our school community, and your contributions are making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.

Alhamdulillah, we have made great progress toward our goal. However, we still have an outstanding balance of $1,500 to reach our target.  We kindly remind parents who have not yet had the opportunity to contribute that this is a meaningful chance to support orphans in need. If you have not yet distributed your Zakat, you may consider directing it toward this cause. Your support will help us reach our target and make a real difference in the lives of these children.

Every dollar counts and brings us closer to fulfilling this important cause. May Allah (SWT) reward you and your families for your generosity and continuous support.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan,

Ghada Smaik
